Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-CXIV

The bride adorned in her jewelry — a mu‘allim said —

The bride adorned in her jewelry — a mu‘allim said —

Is more beautiful than the nakedness of her body;

This is how dour theologians misunderstand

The God-willed splendor of woman —

It is as if the Lord did not know the value of His creation.

In the case of all appearances, including beautiful women,

One must always look at the nature of things.

Est plus belle que la nudité de son corps ;

Ist schöner als die Nacktheit ihres Leibes;

So missverstehn verbohrte Schriftgelehrte
