Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XXXVI

One could describe Paradise as a circle

One could describe Paradise as a circle

In whose center radiates God’s Presence;

The circle turns, like an immense wheel —

Like the ring of gopis gathered round Shrî Krishna.

A circle that bows down before God’s Presence —

And also rises in a drunken dance;

The Presence of God is the axis which,

Like a tree-trunk bearing the wind-tossed crown,

Shapes the melody of the kingdom of Heaven.

En son Centre rayonne la Présence de Dieu ;

Tout en s’élevant dans une ivre danse ;

In dessen Mitte leuchtet Gottes Gegenwart;

Dabei, in trunknem Tanz, nach Oben steigt;
