Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XC
Dignity is to remain faithful to the Inward —
Dignity is to remain faithful to the Inward —
And in the outward, not to deny the sacred
Which God has placed in our heart,
Nor assimilate the turmoil and foolishness of the world.
Dignity is to be what every man should remain
According to God’s intention. Let not the evil one
Depose thee from the noble throne of the human state;
For, since the devil does not like the sacred,
He hates the door to the Divine.
What pleases God, thou shouldst inscribe in thy
So fear thy Lord, and take heed
What thy soul does, and how it does it.
Te chasser du trône du noble état humain ;
In Gottes Absicht. Lass den Bösen nicht
Dich von des edlen Menschseins Thron vertreiben;
Denn da dem Teufel Heiliges nicht passt,
Ist ihm das Tor zum Göttlichen verhasst.
Was Gott gefällt, sollst du ins Herz dir schreiben —
