World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-LV
One wants to pull the mote out of one’s brother’s eye,
One wants to pull the mote out of one’s brother’s eye,
But in one’s own eye one does not see the beam.
Thus it is when they flourish in stupid pride,
As if the Most High’s Judgement did not exist.
Only he who knows himself thoroughly
Has the right to give counsel to his neighbor;
Only he who has burnt his own illusion,
Can strive with good conscience towards the Most High.
A le droit de donner un conseil au prochain ;
Hat Recht, dem Nächsten einen Rat zu geben;
Nur der, der seinen eignen Trug verbrennt,
Kann ruhigen Gemüts zum Höchsten streben.
