World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-VIII
I hold fast to Thee, my God,
I hold fast to Thee, my God,
And will know nothing else.
I believe in Thy Presence
And stand on firm ground.
“A mighty fortress is our God” —
This is well said.
Never has the evil one’s ruse
Broken the strength of faith.
And if the Lord wishes to try me,
So be it; it will profit me;
I am not in my first
The morning will come soon.
Soit, cela doit me profiter.
Und will nichts andres wissen.
Ich glaub an deine Gegenwart
Und steh auf festen Füßen.
„Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott“ —
Es ist gar gut gesprochen.
Noch niemals hat des Bösen List
Die Glaubenskraft gebrochen.
Und wenn der Herr mich prüfen will,
Wohlan, es soll mir frommen.
Bin nicht in meiner ersten Nacht —
Bald mag der Morgen kommen.
