World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-XCIV

I believe in God, whom I have never seen;

I believe in God, whom I have never seen;

But as a wise man, I know that He is there.

I know it, because I stand before Him;

And because I see Him in my heart.

What does it mean: I believe in Thee?

It must be so —Thou lookest on me.

So it is in the realm of the wise:

Faith and knowledge are the same.

In faith there is also this meaning:

With love, I strive towards Thee.

Je crois en Dieu que je n’ai jamais vu ;

Je crois en Dieu que je n’ai jamais vu ;

En tant que sage je sais : Il est là.

Je le sais parce que je me tiens devant Lui ;

Ich glaub an Gott, den ich nie sah;

Ich glaub an Gott, den ich nie sah;

Als Weiser weiß ich: Er ist da.

Ich weiß es, weil ich vor Ihm stehe;
