The sage knows why the poison of evil
Touches all creatures in the world.
It too is said: Verily, the splendor of My Goodness
Was in Pure Being before the power of My Wrath.
In our world: the necessity of
One can, and cannot, resolve the enigma.
All-Possibility: who can grasp it aright?
We must let it be what it is.

Toutes les créatures dans la tourmente du monde.
Il est dit aussi : En vérité, la splendeur de Ma Bonté
Etait dans l’Être avant la puissance de Ma Colère.
Dans notre monde : nécessité du mal —
On peut, et on ne peut, résoudre l’énigme.
Toute-Possibilité : qui peut correctement la saisir ?
Nous devons la laisser être ce qu’elle est.

Es heißt auch: Wahrlich, Meiner Güte Pracht,
Sie war im Sein vor Meines Zornes Macht.
In unsrer Welt: Notwendigkeit des Bösen —
Man kann, und man kann nicht, das Rätsel lösen.
Allmöglichkeit: wer kann sie recht erfassen?
Wir müssen sie auf sich beruhen lassen.
