World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-CVIII
There is the individual, there is society;
There is the individual, there is society;
And then, in time, there is the generation
In which we live: a dream, and a web of
Yet a world that gives meaning to everything.
And within it, an instant, given by God,
Which — if grasped — enlightens and liberates.
L’homme individuel ; la société humaine ;
L’homme individuel ; la société humaine ;
Et puis la génération à l’époque
Où nous vivons : rêve et tissu de rêve —
Mais un monde qui confère un sens à toute chose.
En lui un instant, donné par Dieu,
Qui, s’il est saisit, illumine et délivre.
Der Einzelmensch; die menschliche Gesellschaft;
Der Einzelmensch; die menschliche Gesellschaft;
Und dann das Menschenalter, in der Zeit,
Darin wir leben: Traum und Traumgewebe —
Doch eine Welt, die allem Sinn verleiht.
Darin ein Augenblick, von Gott gegeben,
Der, wenn erfasst, erleuchtet und befreit.
