God gave us reason and sentiment —
God gave us reason and
In the depths of our heart dwells the pure Spirit.
There is nothing in the wondrous structure of man
That does not of itself praise the Most High.
Reason was given thee by the Creator
In order that thou mayst live in the Real;
Beauty and love are the realm of sentiment.
The Spirit is uncreated intelligence.

Au profond du cœur réside le pur Intellect.
Il n’y a rien, dans la merveilleuse structure humaine,
Qui en soi ne glorifie le Très-Haut.
La raison : elle te fut donnée par le Créateur
Pour que tu puisses vivre dans le réel ;
Beauté et amour sont le domaine du sentiment.
L’esprit est Intelligence incréée.

Es gibt nichts in des Menschen Wunderbau,
Was nicht, an sich, den Allerhöchsten preist.
Vernunft: sie ward vom Schöpfer dir gegeben,
Damit im Wirklichen du könnest leben;
Schönheit und Liebe ist des Fühlens Land.
Der Geist ist unerschaffener Verstand.
