Immortality — whoever has grasped it
Immortality — whoever has grasped it
Is delivered from all burdens of the soul.
If thou knowest what becoming and passing away are,
Thou art in the pure, uncreated Spirit —
For thou hast found in God thy very being.
Beyond the idle to-and-fro of things
There is a God-willed return
To what in God thou wast
And mayest thou read it in thy heart.

Est délivré de tout fardeau de l’âme.
Si tu sais ce qu’est devenir et disparition,
Tu es dans le pur Intellect incréé —
Puisque tu as trouvé ton être même en Dieu.
Au-delà du vain va-et-vient des choses,
Il est un retour voulu par Dieu
De ce que tu étais auparavant en Lui —
Et puisses-tu le lire en ton cœur.

Wenn du vom Werden und Vergehen weißt,
Bist du im unerschaffnen, reinen Geist —
Da du in Gott dein Sein gefunden hast.
Jenseits der Dinge eitlem Hin und Her
Ist eine gottgewollte Wiederkehr
Dessen, was du in Gott zuvor gewesen —
Und mögst du es in deinem Herzen lesen.
