Autumn Leaves & The Ring-Comparisons

I am a grain of sand that vanishes in space.

And yet I carry the star within me —

A speck of dust, and my spirit is its foundation.

For all existence is born of the Spirit,

And God has bestowed this miracle on me.

God wished to live in the world as a witness,

And so He cast His All deep into my naught.

Man’s being is more than what thou knowest —

There is no measuring rod for the Spirit.

Beauty is Spirit, crystallized into noble form;

Spirit has vanquished matter, and won it for Itself.

Immense seems the world surrounding us —

Greater still is he who loves his Creator.

Car toute existence est née de l’Esprit ;

Et ce miracle, Dieu me l’a donné.

Dieu voulut vivre dans le monde en tant que témoin,

Et déversa Son Tout dans mon néant.

L’être de l’homme est plus que ce que tu sais —

Car il n’y a pas de mesure pour l’Esprit.

La Beauté est Esprit — coulé en noble forme ;

L’Esprit a vaincu la matière — à son bénéfice propre.

Grandiose semble le monde qui nous entoure —

Plus grand encore est celui qui aime son Créateur.

Ich bin ein Sandkorn, das im Raum verschwindet.

Und dennoch trage ich den Stern in mir —

Er ist ein Stäubchen, das mein Geist begründet.

Denn alles Dasein ist aus Geist geboren;

Und dieses Wunder hat mir Gott geschenkt.

Gott wollte in der Welt als Zeuge leben

Und hat sein Alles in mein Nichts versenkt.

Des Menschen Sein ist mehr, als was du weißt —

Denn keinen Maßstab gibt es für den Geist.

Schönheit ist Geist — zu edler Form geronnen;

Geist hat den Stoff besiegt — für sich gewonnen.

Gewaltig scheint die Welt, die uns umgibt —

Noch größer ist, wer seinen Schöpfer liebt.
