Adastra and Stella Maris: Poems by Frithjof Schuon-Satyam
Brahma Satyam, jagan mithyâ:
Brahma Satyam, jagan mithyâ:
Godhead alone is Real;
What we call world is
This is the wise man’s oath.
What does appearance mean?
Something between naught and Being,
Namely, Existence. And the soul
Is what Brahma wills to free.
Brahma’s ray, deep into the darkness:
Miracle of Existence, purest Spirit
And pure Knowledge — Tat tvam asi:
Become, wise man, what thou knowest.
Brahma Satyam, jagan mithyâ :
Brahma Satyam, jagan mithyâ :
Seule la Divinité est réelle ;
Ce que nous appelons le monde est apparence —
Ceci est le serment du sage.
Mais que signifie l’apparence ?
Quelque chose entre le néant et l’Être,
A savoir l’Existence.
Wirklich ist die Gottheit nur;
Schein ist, was die Welt wir nennen —
Dieses ist der Weisen Schwur.
Doch was soll der Schein bedeuten?
Etwas zwischen Nichts und Sein,
Nämlich Dasein. Und die Seele
Ist, was Brahma will befrein.
Brahmas Lichtstrahl, tief ins Dunkle:
Daseinswunder, reiner Geist
Und Erkenntnis — Tat tvam asi:
Werde, Weiser, was du weißt.
