Meditation

In the book The Feathered Sun (World Wisdom, 1990), this painting is reproduced on page 85. The title is given as “Meditation” and its date is 1961. The clothing of the seated chief reflects the symbols, colors, and sacred geometry of the natural world about him (e.g. birds, buffalo horns, etc.). He holds a single eagle feather in his hand and in the foreground to his right are a shield and lance.
