In this 1966 painting by Frithjof Schuon, which measures 20 by 24 inches, a warrior in an eagle-feather headdress and a loincloth stands, praying. Before him is a seated Plains Indian woman, also absorbed in prayer. In the foreground is a painted buffalo skull and a fire, and in the background a radiant sun and sky. The painting is reproduced on p. 47 of Images of Primordial and Mystic Beauty (Abodes, 1992).
