Clinton Minnaar was born in Walvis Bay, Namibia (formerly South West Africa) in 1972, but spent his formative years in Cape Town, South Africa. An early interest in contemplative spirituality saw him complete an undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, majoring in Comparative Religion, Philosophy, and English. After finishing a teaching degree, he pursued his interest in the Perennialist school of thought, writing an MA on the epistemological implications of the so-called “mystical experience debate”. He has traveled widely in North Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North and South America in order to visit sacred and cultural sites and contact noted spiritual authorities. He lives with his wife in Bloomington, Indiana.
The Underlying Religion (2007) is co-edited by Clinton Minnar and Martin Lings.
