All spiritual teaching presupposes an oral and personal modality which is the vehicle of a transmission and a “soul to soul” relationship in the absence of which the spiritual path would risk remaining too theoretical and abstract. Schuon was a spiritual guide, and his correspondence concerns those under his direction but also his readers and all those who sought his advice. Schuon has been very generous in providing his teaching and in his ability to listen and be compassionate.
