Say not that this or that poem is worldly,
Say not that this or that poem is worldly,
Or that it should not have been written.
In each one there is something of the inner
Otherwise it would not have entered the poet’s heart.

Réside quelque chose de la Lumière intérieure —
Sinon elle ne ferait point irruption dans le cœur du poète.

Sei weltlich, sollte nicht geschrieben sein.
In jedem liegt etwas vom innern Lichte —
Sonst fiele es dem Dichterherz nicht ein.
