Mary and Elizabeth: they met and greeted each other;

The blessèd Virgin spoke, filled with the Holy Ghost,
And said: “The Lord has chosen me;
They shall call me blessed. Humility
Is the heart’s adornment: to be small before God’s greatness.
He fills the poor, but the rich
He turns away.” What does this mean?
“Rich” is he who has no room for the Lord
In his heart, because it is filled with the world.
O man, see that a holy emptiness
Honor the fullness of the Supreme Name.
Mary — full of Grace. Praise be to God,
Who tests our hearts through humility.

Riche est celui qui n’a pas de place pour le Seigneur
Dans son cœur, car le monde le remplit.
Ô homme, veille à ce qu’un vide sacré
Honore la plénitude du Nom Suprême.
Marie — pleine de Grâce. Dieu soit loué,
Lui qui éprouve notre cœur par l’humilité.

Er lässt ihn gehn.“ — Was ist damit gemeint?
Reich ist, wer keinen Raum hat für den Herrn
In seinem Herzen, weil die Welt es füllt.
O Mensch, sieh zu, dass eine heilge Leere
Des allerhöchsten Namens Fülle ehre.
Maria — voll der Gnad. Gott sei gelobt,
Der durch die Demut unser Herz erprobt.
