One day all things on earth will be no more;

It is said: Lâ ilâha illâ ’Llâh —
Hence transience, teaches the Koran.
Who can go on existing before the Face of Allah?
Yet, if thou didst know the Last Judgment
Were tomorrow — thou wouldst thy duties still perform
As if another hundred years thou hadst to live.
O heart, be still, and let God weave thy destiny.

Qui peut subsister devant la Face d’Allâh ?
Pourtant : si tu savais que le Jugement Dernier
Serait pour demain — tu remplirais ton devoir,
Comme si tu avais encore cent années à vivre.
Sois tranquille, mon cœur — laisse Dieu tisser ton destin.

Wer kann vor Allāh’ Angesicht bestehen?
Doch: wenn du wüsstest, dass das Weltgericht
Für morgen wär — du tätest deine Pflicht,
Als hättest du noch hundert Jahr zu leben.
Sei ruhig, Herz — lass Gott dein Schicksal weben.
