World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-XXX
There is a loving that wants to possess —
There is a loving that wants to
And another that rejoices in loving,
In the nature of things: in the unborn
Glory of the man or woman friend.
Dante and Petrarch; Beatrice and Laura —
Singing of longing, but with a higher striving,
Under the sign of heavenly contemplativity.
Mysticism of faith, the poems of St. Teresa;
Saint Bernard said: “I love because I love.”
Mystique de la foi, chants de sainte Thérèse ;
Saint Bernard a dit : « J’aime parce que j’aime. »
Es gibt ein Lieben, das besitzen will —
Es gibt ein Lieben, das besitzen will —
Ein anderes, das sich am Lieben freut,
Am Urgehalt der Dinge: an des Freundes,
Der Freundin, ungeborner Herrlichkeit.
Dante, Petrarca; Beatrix und Laura —
Von Sehnsucht singend, doch aus höherm Triebe,
Im Zeichen himmlischer Beschaulichkeit.
Gläubige Mystik, Lieder der Teresia;
Sankt Bernhard sprach: „Ich liebe, weil ich liebe.“
