Mâyâ and vairâgya — the Sanskrit words

For illusion and dispassion. The first is the world,

The second is the wise man’s soul,

Which Brahma placed into illusion —

So that, in spite of Mâyâ, it might be real;

So that it might choose its true identity.

Mâyâ, et puis vairâgya — mots sanscrits

Pour illusion et impassibilité. L’un est le monde,

L’autre est l’âme de l’homme sage

Que Brahma a placée dans l’illusion —

Afin que, malgré la Mâyâ, elle soit réelle ;

Afin qu’elle choisisse sa vraie Ipséité.

Für Trug und Gleichmut. Eines ist die Welt,

Das Andre ist des weisen Menschen Seele

Die Brahma in den Trug hineingestellt —

Auf dass sie trotz der Māyā wirklich sei;
