Frithjof Schuon Archive

This painting by Frithjof Schuon is reproduced on page 77 of Images of Primordial and Mystic Beauty (Abodes, 1992). The woman and boy stand in front of a magnificent tipi, with natural colors used throughout the painting. The tipi (or “lodge”) entrance is covered by a hide with a buffalo head painted on it. The patches of snow on the ground, mixed with new growth beneath, is found in many Schuon paintings of both earthly and celestial scenes. The original painting is from 1959 and is 10 by 24 inches.
