Autumn Leaves & The Ring-About Man
Man is earth, close to the animal,
Man is earth, close to the animal,
And yet he is spirit; he must bear the burden of animality,
He wishes to forget it, to make it unrecognizable,
And yet he must suffer with it throughout his life.
The animal form is spiritualized;
Our body and our face bear witness to God
And demand nobility of soul — spiritual forces
Which, true to their nature, ascend to the archetype.
Man can err and fall from his
The noble animal is better than the wicked man.
God the Merciful shines into the world,
So that His Word may liberate His likeness.

La forme animale est spiritualisée ; notre corps
Et notre visage sont les témoins de Dieu
Et exigent la noblesse de l’âme — forces spirituelles
Qui, fidèles à leur nature, montent vers l’archétype.
L’homme peut errer, tomber de sa hauteur —
Le noble animal est meilleur que l’homme méchant.
Dieu le Miséricordieux rayonne dans le monde,
Afin que Son Verbe délivre Son image.

Und fordern Seelenadel — Geisteskräfte
Die, ihrem Wesen treu, zum Urbild steigen.
Der Mensch kann irren, fallen von der Höhe —
Das edle Tier ist besser als der Böse.
Gott der Erbarmer strahlet in die Welt,
Auf dass sein Wort sein Ebenbild erlöse.
