Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXXI
Let not thyself be troubled by the phantoms
Let not thyself be troubled by the phantoms
Brought thee by thy soul in order to delude
Clouds of fog cannot endure;
Let them dissolve before the Spirit’s walls.
The tempter may well threaten us with ruses;
The Light keeps watch — the delusion is gone.
There is within us a slight contradiction
That comes from the fact that the world is transient;
And even the best that destiny bestows
Is in many respects
Compared with the Absolute Good.
“It is ever well with the believer” —
For God looks now into thy soul.
The believer wills to be now, not later.
Les formations de brumes ne peuvent jamais durer ;
Le tentateur a beau menacer par des ruses ;
Qui provient du fait que ce monde est éphémère ;
Nebelgebilde können niemals dauern;
Lass sie zerstieben an des Geistes Mauern.
Mag der Versucher auch mit Listen drohen;
Der daher rührt, dass diese Welt vergänglich;
Denn Gott schaut jetzt in deine Seel hinein.
Der Gläubige will jetzt, nicht nachher sein.
