Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXXVI

Dawn breaks and the sun rises

Dawn breaks and the sun rises

In a rosy light;

Thus does the Lord, veiled and from afar

Show His Face;

And thou rememberest in thy heart

The Light of God;

And whatever thy neighbor’s destiny, joy or grief —

Forget it not.

L’aube frémit et le soleil monte

L’aube frémit et le soleil monte

Dans une lumière rosée ;

Le Seigneur montre ainsi, voilée et de loin,

Sa Face ;

Et tu te rappelles en ton cœur

La Lumière de Dieu ;

Et ce qui est le destin du prochain, joie et peine —

Ne l’oublie point.

Der Morgen schauert und die Sonne steigt

Der Morgen schauert und die Sonne steigt

Im Rosenlicht;

So zeigt der Herr, verschleiert und von fern

Sein Angesicht;

Und du erinnerst dich in deinem Herz

An Gottes Licht;

Und was des Nächsten Schicksal, Freud und Leid —

Vergiss es nicht.
