Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XII

The problem of exaggeration: a learned man

The problem of exaggeration: a learned man

Told me that God never demands,

Through the law, what is unreasonable;

Moderation in everything is the wise man’s adornment.

A saint may well be unreasonable —

But this behavior is for him alone.

Problème d’exagération : un exégète

Problème d’exagération : un exégète

M’a dit que Dieu n’exige jamais

Par la loi ce qui est déraisonnable ;

Durch das Gesetz, was unvernünftig ist;
