Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XXVI

“Praise the Lord” — what does this mean?

“Praise the Lord” — what does this mean?

It is for us, God does not need it for Himself.

It means: we should know what God is eternally,

In Heaven and on earth.

To know is to become — to become what God intended

When He put spirit and soul into clay —

The Lord, who needs nothing outside Himself,

Breathed Himself into the nothingness of heavy earth.
