Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-CXXI

There is only One God and no other —

There is only One God and no other —

And nothing is greater than the remembrance of God.

Thus speaks the Sufi — firstly in his mind;

And then he lives it in his inmost depths.

Truth that motionlessly rises upwards;

Holiness that strives towards depth.

The mountain; then the river that springs from it

And fades away in the ocean’s infinity.

Ainsi parle le Soufi — d’abord en son esprit ;

La Vérité, qui immuable s’élève dans la hauteur ;

So spricht der Sufi — erst in seinem Geist;

Die Wahrheit, die sich reglos hoch erhebt;
