Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LVI

In false language usage, greatness is merely quantity,

In false language usage, greatness is merely quantity,

Outward success and appearance, “much ado about nothing”;

Lacking foundation in the nature of things —

It is not noble breadth, but miserable narrowness.

In a world where everything is but appearance,

One calls great men small, and small men great.

Simple succès et apparence, « beaucoup de bruit pour rien » ;

Bloßer Erfolg und Schein, „viel Lärm um nichts“;
