Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XXVIII
In the Sâvitrî it is said: Earth, wind,
In the Sâvitrî it is said: Earth, wind,
And heavenly expanse; may Savitâ
Grant us enlightenment, God’s gift,
Which from above flows down to earth.
Bhûr bhuvah svah: earth is matter;
Air or wind is the psyche, the world of the soul;
Heaven is the Spirit; Savitâ is
The divine ray that descends into the darkness.
The Names of God penetrate the spheres
Of cosmic unfolding; even in the world of matter,
Thou canst hear the eternal Words of the Divinity.
Bhûr bhuvah svah : la terre est la matière ;
L’air ou le vent est la psyché, le monde de l’âme ;
Bhūr bhuvah svah: Erde ist die Materie;
Luft oder Wind ist Psyche, Seelenwelt;
Der Himmel ist der Geist; Savitā ist
Der Gottesstrahl, der in das Dunkel fällt.
Die Namen Gottes dringen durch die Sphären
Der Weltentfaltung; selbst im Erdenstoff
Kannst du der Gottheit ewgen Worte hören.
