World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-LX

One can often see strange contradictions

One can often see strange contradictions

With highly gifted people: always in flight,

They are incredibly prolific and combine

Word-inebriation with profundity; hence Shakespeare’s impact.

Actors may well live towards the outward —

But nonetheless can have their wisdom:

Besides playfulness, a sense of depth.

And doubtless the greatest poetic gifts.

On voit souvent d’étranges contradictions

On voit souvent d’étranges contradictions

Seltsame Widersprüche sieht man oft

Seltsame Widersprüche sieht man oft

Bei Hochbegabten: immer auf der Flucht,

Sind sie unheimlich fruchtbar und verbinden

Wortrausch mit Tiefsinn; daher Shakespeare’s Wucht.

Schauspieler leben wohl nach außenhin —

Sie können trotzdem ihre Weisheit haben:

Neben Verspieltheit, für das Tiefe Sinn.

Und ohne Zweifel größte Dichtergaben.
