World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-LXI
The river of genius comes from man alone;
The river of genius comes from man alone;
But — as with Dante — also from above:
The Creator has something to say to the world,
And the poet or artist has to carry the burden.
From both God and earth his work is woven.
Le fleuve du génie vient de l’homme seul ;
Le fleuve du génie vient de l’homme seul ;
Néanmoins — comme chez Dante — d’En Haut aussi :
Le Créateur a un mot à dire au monde ;
Le poète, l’artiste, a le fardeau à porter —
De Dieu et de terre son œuvre est tissée.
Der Strom des Genius kommt allein vom Menschen;
Der Strom des Genius kommt allein vom Menschen;
Jedoch — etwa bei Dante — auch von Oben:
Der Schöpfer hat der Welt ein Wort zu sagen;
Der Dichter, Künstler, hat die Last zu tragen —
Aus Gott und Erde ist sein Werk gewoben.
