World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-V
What justifies the repetition of things
What justifies the repetition of things
Already said? Not the new form,
But the deep richness of the Mystery;
Hence the gift of a new
The True which shifts its emphasis.
Just as, in a new abode, one loves with the same heart
But in a new way, what one has loved before.
Qu’est-ce qui justifie la répétition
Qu’est-ce qui justifie la répétition
D’une chose déjà dite ? Non la forme nouvelle,
Mais la profonde richesse du Mystère ;
Et ainsi la nouvelle accentuation qui s’offre —
C’est le Vrai qui déplace ainsi son accent.
Tout comme ce qu’on aime, dans une nouvelle demeure,
On l’aime avec le même cœur, mais d’une nouvelle façon.
Was denn rechtfertigt eine Wiederholung
Was denn rechtfertigt eine Wiederholung
Des schon Gesagten? Nicht die neue Form,
Sondern der tiefe Reichtum des Mysteriums;
Und so die neu beschenkende Betonung —
Das Wahre, das sein Schwergewicht verschiebt.
So wie man, was man liebt, in neuer Wohnung
Mit gleichem Herzen, doch aufs Neue liebt.
