World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-VI

O ye who have sound intellects,

O ye who have sound intellects,

Understand the doctrine that lies hidden

In the poem, which revolves like a wheel —

O voi ch’avete li’ntelletti sani,

Mirate la dottrina che s’asconde

Sotto ’l velame de li versi strani —

In the language of Dante. Often the poem’s lines

Offer more than is contained in the literal wording —

Thou shouldst not simply dwell on the immediate meaning.

In Dantes Sprache. Des Gedichtes Zeilen

Bieten oft mehr, als was der Wortlaut will —

Du sollst nicht bloß beim ersten Sinn verweilen.
