World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-XLVII
Man is an accident, he could be another;
Man is an accident, he could be another;
He is necessity, otherwise he would not exist.
Like an animal, he needs his daily bread;
Yet he is spirit — he bears the Light of the Most High.
L’homme est accident, il pourrait être un autre ;
L’homme est accident, il pourrait être un autre ;
Il est nécessité, sinon il ne serait point.
Et comme un animal, il lui faut son pain quotidien ;
Mais il est esprit — il véhicule la Lumière du Très-Haut.
Der Mensch ist Zufall, könnt ein Andrer sein;
Der Mensch ist Zufall, könnt ein Andrer sein;
Er ist Notwendigkeit, sonst wär er nicht.
Und wie ein Tier braucht er sein täglich Brot;
Doch er ist Geist — er trägt des Höchsten Licht.
