World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-CII
Serenity is like a mountain top;
Serenity is like a mountain top;
Certitude is the safe cavern within it;
The first requires resignation,
The second trust in God — see how the soul
Has height and depth. The source of existence
Is holy darkness here and holy brightness there.
La sérénité est comme le sommet d’une montagne ;
La sérénité est comme le sommet d’une montagne ;
La certitude est dans la montagne la caverne sûre ;
La première requiert la résignation à la Volonté de Dieu,
La seconde, la confiance en Dieu — vois comme l’âme
A hauteur et profondeur. La source de l’existence
Est obscurité sacrée ici, clarté sacrée là-bas.
Erhabenheit ist wie der Bergesgipfel;
Erhabenheit ist wie der Bergesgipfel;
Gewissheit ist im Berg die sichre Höhle;
Das Erste fordert Gottergebenheit,
Das Zweite Gottvertraun — sieh wie die Seele
Höhe und Tiefe hat. Des Daseins Quelle
Ist heilges Dunkel hier, dort heilge Helle.
