As far as possible one should be on guard against the psyche —

As far as possible one should be on guard against the psyche —

Not when the Spirit penetrates it from above,

But when the soul is an end in itself,

And drowns in its own nothingness.

In the most diverse of realms, one can see

That only the radiation of the Spirit brings good.

Que seul le rayonnement de l’Esprit apporte du bien.

Doch wenn sie Selbstzweck ist, und wenn die Seel

In ihrer eignen Nichtigkeit versinkt.

Man sieht es auf verschiedensten Gebieten —

Dass nur des Geistes Strahlung Gutes bringt.
