Plato explained — and after him Augustine —
That everything good seeks to give itself;
The creative stream is
Yet what it brings is temporal, and will disappear.
But be not sad, for all that thou see’st
Stands written with God since the
So said Rumi. Not the wondrous work of beauty,
Only the earthly shadow-play disappears.
