World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-XXVIII
It is often said that one artist should not create
It is often said that one artist should not create
Like another; this is foolish
It is natural that artists create the same thing,
When they drink from the same source.
It is not originality that is decisive,
But the value in itself, whoever the creator may be.
A Chinese vase has its own value —
But no one asks who was the potter.
Neither does one ask: who invented the style?
The goal is not individual glory — but the Truth.
