God is for us the highest Other;
God is for us the highest Other;
And within us, He is the deepest Self —
Thus highest “Thou” and deepest “I.”
Both and neither is the Lord in Himself.
Dieu est pour nous la suprême Altérité ;
Dieu est pour nous la suprême Altérité ;
En nous, Il est aussi la plus profonde Identité —
Ainsi le suprême Toi, et puis le plus profond Moi.
En Soi le Seigneur est les deux choses et aucune.
Gott ist für uns die höchste Andersheit;
Gott ist für uns die höchste Andersheit;
Er ist, in uns, auch tiefste Selbigkeit —
So höchstes Du und dann auch tiefstes Ich.
Beides und keines ist der Herr an Sich.
